Social Networking Demographics
"Social Networking Demos Spread Out ", from eMarketer.
As a percentage of all visits to the Web by US adult Internet users, 6% are made to social networking sites, which puts it above the percentage of visits made to news-gathering sites but below those to online shopping sites. The bottom line is that social networking has broader appeal than just MySpace and Facebook.
Indeed, we are starting to set up more and more industry/niche social networking systems. Here are a couple of them, eyeforpharma.net, and a sister site, pharmadaq, using prediction markets. Both systems are targeting the pharmaceutical industry. We also have a third component (internal social networking systems) that individual pharma companies can implement to spur mashups with the external sites mentined above. Yes, it is an eco-system for the pharma industry.
I'll tell ya more about it later.

We use some of the leading open-source web 2.0 software and content management systems, which are trusted by 10,000's of site owners, to develop interactive website applications.

Jim, cool - a social networking ecosystem which also has room for that rare species known as "Copywriter Integritus" would be my cup of tea.
Something along the lines of Terry Dean's book - reviewed here:
