Social media pollution

There's so much noise and spam from the so-called experts as well as any goofball that calls h/self a consultant that almost all of the promised benefits are lost. Hey, I got rid of my rss reader - gave up reading all of about 6 blogs - almost two years ago. I don't go near twitter. Everything that has been written in books, blogs, twittered on social media, social software applications, and web 2.0 has already been done 1000 times, times the number of polluters. Hell, even my kids (teenagers) get spammed on facebook by marketers.

Broadcasting with 'Social' Media, from the daily fix. ..."Lately I've been seeing a troubling trend on some blogs, and especially on Twitter. What I'm noticing is that some well-known and established players in the social media space are using these tools not as ways to interact and be "social," but instead as channels to "broadcast" the media they are creating."

So, what's worse? Marketers or Spammers?

My point, the social media experiment has failed to a large degree. ...Too many consultants and marketing people talking to themselves.The truth probably starts where the longtail ends. I think more individuals and groups will go private or find a closed network.

I'll be updating this site one of these days to get rid of my own social-bs.
